Literally translating to "seven flavor chile pepper", shichimi togarashi is a Japanese blend that dates back to the 1600's and brings out the clean, simple flavors of Japanese cooking. Red chiles & black peppercorns provide heat, while toasted sesame seeds, Pacific coast nori seaweed & California orange peel add a complex flavor dimension. We love this Japanese spice mix, or shichimi togarashi seasoning, with grilled meats, soba noodles, udon, tempuras or sprinkled on top of rice or noodle dishes. Freshly ground & toasted in house weekly. As always, find plenty of Japanese 7 spice recipes on our blog.

Shichimi Togarashi, Freshly Ground Recipes
I'm from Japan and hands down love this fresher stuff over the Japanese S&B version. In our household, we use shichimi togarashi right next to the salt & pepper- this is our absolute go to.
